Freight company becomes a family affair

A Midlands freight firm has become a real family affair after the managing director and national sales manager tied the knot.

Nicole Howarth, who has been at the helm of Telford’s Global Freight for nearly 20 years, married Anton Gunter at Dumbleton Hall in Gloucestershire last month.

The couple met through their work and Anton, previously with Anglo Pacific International, joined the firm in 2014 as National Sales Manager with a brief that included the launch of a new international personal effects removal service.

Anton, who is from South Africa, has more than 15 years experience in international logistics and is a specialist in relocations.

Nicole is regarded as one of the country’s leading international freight experts. She has previously been named as one of the top three female directors in the UK logistics industry and featured in the Who’s Who of Britain’s Business Elite.

She launched Global Freight in 1996 and it has gone from strength to strength, working with small and medium sized enterprises and helping them to launch successful export programmes.

It has also carved out a reputation as one of the UK’s leading exporters of oversize artwork, bronzes and luxury furniture.

Nicole said: “When Anton and I met, we obviously had a shared passion for the industry and I was delighted when he agreed to join the Global Freight team.

“We have a great partnership and I’m looking forward to us working together and developing the business as we edge towards 20 years in business, although we do try and switch off at home!”
