Penta Freight PVT. LTD. Mumbai India Collaborate with Fellow AON Member Aries Global to Import a Special Assembled Car

Penta Freight recently received an inquiry to import a specially assembled car from the USA to Mumbai/Nhavasheva from their customer who is one of the biggest business houses in India. The vehicle is a custom-built racing buggy which was being brought in for the Managing Director of the group, who is a car aficionado.

Penta Freight contacted a fellow AON member – Aries Global Logistics (AGL), amongst others to handle this query.   Initially the shipment was to be moved by air. From the different quotes they had received, AGL was the most competitive. Penta Freight then met with the customer and matched all of their requirements, so they awarded the shipment to them. The customer wanted us to crate the vehicle and arrange the DG labeling. Aries Global gave Penta Freight these rates within a day. Penta Freight received all of the approvals from the customer and the pickup was arranged and forwarded to the crating company.

The crating work was completed and the shipment was ready to air lift. However, the only thing missing were the documents. Aries Global and the consignee were pushing the shipper for the documents, but ultimately, they learnt that the shipper didn’t have the required documents to custom clear this shipment as initially this shipment was to be moved in parts – CKD condition and not as a CBU vehicle. Aries Global gave the shipper the formats of documents required to clear the shipment such as “Pink Slip or Car Title”. The shipper checked with the US local authorities and informed Penta Freight that it will take a minimum of 4 to 5 weeks to get the required documents. Penta Freight then removed the crating and the shipper took the car back to arrange the required documents. Finally, the shipper informed Penta Freight that the “Car Title” was ready so that they could arrange to uplift the vehicle. The consignee then informed them to arrange the shipment by ocean freight as the urgency to move by air was lost. Penta Freight worked out a competitive sea freight quote with Aries Global and then finally the shipment was picked up again and loaded into a 20’GP container which was soon after sailed. Penta Freight sends its thanks to the AON Network and special thanks to Karla Cienfuegos and Frank D’Ambra from AGL for a great cooperation.
